New Class

The Necrobinder Guide

Master Slay the Spire 2's newest class. The Necrobinder commands the dead, poisons enemies, and cheats death itself. Learn the mechanics that make this class unique.

Class Overview

The Necrobinder is a master of death and decay. This class excels at long, grinding fights where poison and summon mechanics can reach their full potential. Unlike the Ironclad or Silent, the Necrobinder relies on building up powerful synergies rather than burst damage.

Core Mechanics

Soul Binding

Bind defeated enemies to fight for you. Each bound soul provides unique bonuses and can be sacrificed for powerful effects.

Death Energy

Accumulate death energy when creatures die. Spend it to amplify card effects or unlock devastating abilities.

Undying Resolve

The Necrobinder can cheat death once per combat. Master the timing of this passive to survive otherwise fatal encounters.

Life Drain

Many Necrobinder cards restore HP when dealing damage. Sustain through long fights by aggressively draining enemy health.

Unique Status Effects

Poison - Deals damage at the end of each turn. Stacks infinitely and cannot be blocked.
Soulbound - When this enemy dies, a soul fragment is added to your collection.
Decaying - Enemy loses Strength each turn. Great for weakening bosses over time.
Undead - Minions fight on your side. They block and attack automatically each turn.

Starting Card Picks

Pick card draw options early - the Necrobinder needs to find key combo pieces

Prioritize block cards in the first act - survival is more important than damage

Look for poison synergy cards in shops - they scale extremely well

Don't ignore basic attacks - you need consistent damage while building your engine

Quick Tips

Beginner Tips & Mistakes

New to Slay the Spire 2? These quick tips will help you avoid common pitfalls and get the most out of your Early Access experience.

Campfire Strategy Changed

In STS2, resting at campfires is often better than upgrading early cards. The Necrobinder needs HP to survive long scaling fights.

Avoid These Trap Cards

Soul Harvest looks tempting but costs too much energy for its effect early on. Skip it until you have energy relics.

Energy Management is Key

The Necrobinder has fewer energy generation options than other classes. Prioritize energy relics and avoid expensive cards.

Embrace the Long Game

Unlike Ironclad's burst damage, the Necrobinder wins through attrition. Don't panic if fights take longer.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Ignoring Block Cards
The Necrobinder takes more damage early. Always draft at least 3-4 block cards in Act 1.
Over-investing in Summons
Summons are powerful but slow. Balance your deck with immediate damage and block.
Skipping Card Rewards
You need synergy pieces. Take even mediocre cards that support your chosen archetype.
Resting Instead of Smithing
Later in the run, upgrading key cards (like Catalyst) is often worth the HP risk.
